Wheel plateau in the lathe
Almost there! We’ll miss our week 4-5 target, but the first real production grade Wheel is around the corner.
We call it Wheel 1, the mother of all real Wheels, built from serial production parts, assembled in a serial production way, without tape and rubber bands or pre series components, and up to the standard we envisioned all along.
In a couple of weeks, when the first Wheels will be out in the world for all to see, we can finally put all development stuff in boxes, clean up the place, kick ass and build a lot of Wheels!
Looking back, It’s unbelievable how utterly naive we have been when we promised an October 2017 delivery date. We now know why a record player like Wheel didn’t exist. Development and production of Wheel was (and is) a gargantuan undertaking, we've been to hell and back.
The best promise I can make right now, to you and to my family, is that I will never make such a promise again. I’ve probably said this before, but I count myself lucky that you, backers and pre-order customers kept faith in us and in the Wheel project for all this time.
With the first Wheels out the door, we expect to swiftly ramp up production. Our building capacity isn’t unlimited, and it will take a while before all orders will be fulfilled. Because we ship first come, first served, the delivery date of your Wheel depends on where you are in the queue.
